as much as i love nora roberts， this book was just ok。 her earlier silhouette books don't have as much meat as her novels。

Charity runs a friendly inn that was handed down by her grandfather。 She meets FBI agent Roman when he poses as a guest。 She hires him to do handyman work around the inn when her handyman suddenly wins the lottery and moves on。 Charity is content and happy with her life and her inn。 Roman knows theres something criminal going on but he doesnt know for sure if Charity is involved。 Roman and Charity start to fall for each other just as Roman begins his investigation。 He keeps his real identity Charity runs a friendly inn that was handed down by her grandfather。 She meets FBI agent Roman when he poses as a guest。 She hires him to do handyman work around the inn when her handyman suddenly wins the lottery and moves on。 Charity is content and happy with her life and her inn。 Roman knows there’s something criminal going on but he doesn’t know for sure if Charity is involved。 Roman and Charity start to fall for each other just as Roman begins his investigation。 He keeps his real identity from Charity even when she’s almost run down by a stolen car。 But when the criminal finds out he’s about to be busted he holds Charity hostage and Roman has no choice but to come clean。 He must save Charity and take down a criminal enterprise but Charity has to choose whether or not to forgive him。 I admit Charity and Roman fall for each right off the bat。 They’re love story seems to happen instantly。 Both are likable characters and you have to hope for a happy ending。 The mystery of who is behind the criminal activity was pretty good。 This was a quick and easy read that added some fun and love mixed into a mystery of lies and deceptions。 。。。more

Just started this one， I know these are old stories， and I usually don't let sexism bother me， this comment made me see red though， "Look baby， all you can do is take some aspirin and stop letting it bother you。"What？！？ He had only known this woman for a couple of days and he is mansplaining how to feel？！？ I really hope there isn't much more of this in the book or this may be one Nora Roberts book that does not get finished。

Cute！ Aside from the male MC smoking like a chimney and telling the female MC she was stupid （but I think it only happened once so Roberts is doing better in that regard compared to previous books） it was sweet。 Overly simplified of course since the couple knew each other for a total of 3 weeks when they tied the knot （including a week where they weren't speaking to each other） but altogether it was a quick， charming little read。

An undercover agent shows up in a small town to investigate a criminal gang operating out of a delightful little inn。 The agent， Roman， ends up employed at the inn through a series of set-ups and Charity's， the inn's owner， good nature。 This is my least liked Roberts book at this time。 The romance feels forced and unbelievable。 The mystery is not very solid。 Overall， this book was largely forgettable and not as solid as I was expecting from Roberts。

If this book was a color it would be mediocre。I picked this up for the setting and the author but it was clear， from the smoking， that these were early days， the beginnings of her golden formula。 Everybody starts on bumpy roads， lol。

*Listened to audiobook*Ugh。 The story had promise and I liked some characters。 BUT Roman was an alpha asshole。 And Charity， I liked everything about her until she kissed him once after a couple days and says she loves him。 🙄 Just。 So much eye rolling and irritation。 1。5 stars。

Wow so many bad decisions， and near rape turns to romance？ I might be a guy but isn't this the kind of stuff politicians are getting in trouble over？ The stories are not that bad， and the characters are a bit disturbed but this was a good read。
